Wolves FC charity to lead children's sports scheme
Wolves FoundationA football club's charity will continue as the lead provider of a popular scheme offering free physical activities to children and young people.
Wolverhampton Wanderers' charity, the Wolves Foundation, will be the lead provider for Yo! Action which has been extended until April 2027, but could run for four years, subject to funding, said the city council.
More than 18,500 young people across the city have so far signed up to the scheme, which began in 2024 and offers various sports including swimming, football and basketball.
Tom Warren, Wolves Foundation general manager, said they were "proud to play our part in a partnership that is creating real, lasting impact for our communities".
Warren said it would work alongside the city council and WV Active to deliver the scheme.
"The programme has already made a huge difference to thousands of children and young people across Wolverhampton, removing barriers to physical activity and helping families build healthier, more active lifestyles," he said.
Yo! Active is open to children under 18, with eligibility extended to 25 years for care leavers and young people with special educational needs or disabilities.
