Kent Police says a 19-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after his bike crashed into a building

A referral has been made to a police complaints watchdog after a 19-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash, police have said.

A Kent Police spokesperson said a white OneMX electric motorcycle was travelling north from Edenbridge and continued into Westerham, where it struck a building near the junction with New Street at about 10:10 GMT on 26 February.

The bike had earlier been followed by a police car before entering the High Street, where the officers discovered the crash, police added.

They said the man was taken to a London hospital and was in a stable condition.

The force said a mandatory referral had been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following the incident.
