Police said concerns are growing for L/Cpl Rudd's safety

An urgent search for a Catterick Garrison soldier who disappeared more than two weeks ago has been launched, with police saying they are now "very concerned" for his safety.

L/Cpl Ryan Rudd, 28, was last seen in the early hours of 15 February on a night out at the New Inn in Selby.

Since then, he has not contacted any of his family, friends or colleagues.

He is described as white, about 5ft 8in (1.72m), slim, with dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue hooded top and black trousers.

A police spokesperson asked anyone who had seen him on 14 or 15 February or subsequently to get in touch.

An Army spokesperson confirmed that L/Cpl Rudd was reported missing to police on 1 March.

"An investigation is under way and we are working with North Yorkshire Police who are leading this," they added.
