New ambulance for St John Guernsey funded by donors
St John GuernseySt John Guernsey has taken delivery of a new ambulance after donations from BOW Trustees and the Rotary Club of Guernsey.
The vehicle replaces an ageing ambulance, which was first identified as nearing the end of its serviceable life in early 2024.
St John Guernsey chief executive Heather Langlois said replacing an ambulance was a major undertaking for a charity, with costs not only covering the purchase of the vehicle but also registration, servicing and preparing it for use on the island.
"From providing cover at Liberation Day events and school fetes, to being on the beach at the Autocross or supporting the local marathon, our vehicles are used as mobile first aid posts," she said.
Langlois added: "We are extremely grateful to BOW Trustees and the Rotary Club of Guernsey for their financial support in the purchase this vehicle. Without them, this would not have been possible."
To acknowledge their support, St John Guernsey has added both organisations' logos to the vehicle's livery, ensuring their contribution is recognised and appreciated for years to come.
