Ollie: I currently have Joao Pedro in my team, alongside Haaland, as one of my two strikers. Is a switch to Ekitike worth the extra price?

Gianni: Yes, given the fixtures, this is absolutely a switch I would make. Ekitike looked great last time out and I think he’s more than worth the extra.

Haaland reduced minutes?published at 16:49 GMT 3 March

David: With Real Madrid in eight days' time, do you think Haaland's minutes will be managed, even if he does start? I'm considering VVD or Gabriel as captains, better minutes, route to goals, clean sheet, and defcon. What do you think?

Gianni: Yes that’s definitely a concern and even between the Real Madrid games, which are a Wednesday/Tuesday turnaround, I am worried about his minutes vs West Ham in Gameweek 30. But I do think he starts vs Forest and plays close to 90; he’s my captain. I expect him to get reduced minutes in the FA Cup this weekend.

Bowen or Thiago?published at 16:45 GMT 3 March

David: Who would you start - Bowen against Fulham or Thiago against Bournemouth?

Gianni: Thiago’s returns have been modest of late, but he’s been getting the chances and the Brentford attack all funnels to him. Unlike West Ham’s attack with Bowen who, under Nuno, is a winger. It feels like a monster haul is coming soon for Thiago and he’s too dangerous to bench.

James: Rice to Mbeumo? Would mean no worry about GW31 or whether he plays GW29 and not many looking at him currently. Already played Wildcard, so transfers at a premium.

Gianni: I’m playing Rice as I think there is a good chance he starts, but if I had money in the bank to get to Mbeumo he would be my transfer in this week. He has only blanked twice under Carrick in what is a well-functioning United attack. Given his relatively low ownership, at under 25% owned he offers big upside potential, and with his next three games against Newcastle, Aston Villa and Bournemouth, expect lots of opportunities to play on the last man and space to run in behind.

Stewart: Who do you recommend for FPL Challenge this week? Players score six extra points for completing 90 minutes.

Gianni: 90-minute men are so valuable in regular FPL too. Virgil and Szoboszlai at Liverpool, Semenyo at City, Thiago at Brentford and if you want to go really spicy, maybe a punt like Bogle, who’s playing very high and wide at Leeds.

Andrew: With a 10 and 13-point haul in his last two matches and three favourable encounters coming up, including Burnley in the blank gameweek, should we be looking at Iwobi as an epic differential?

Gianni: I really like Fulham as a short-term punt and their next three are high upside fixtures for sure. Iwobi is often their best player and he’s a fairly reliable FPL asset. Smith-Rowe and Bobb also caught the eye last time out but unlike Iwobi they’re not nailed for 85+ minutes so the Nigerian is probably the best of the three. Ordinarily, Wilson would be my number one Fulham attacker to buy, but his flag is enough to put you off this week. With that in mind, could you wait a week and buy Wilson next week if/when fit? I’m looking to buy in Gameweek 31 myself!

Tim: Is it worth offloading Chelsea assets? And would you drop Rogers - Aston Villa are woefully out of form?

Gianni: Frustratingly, I own Rogers (on my bench this week) and I’m only keeping him because he has a good fixture in blank Gameweek 31. But Chelsea also have a fixture and I would be selling Rogers before Chelsea attackers now, I think. Aston Villa vs Chelsea is a huge match for the Top 5 and after a good performance versus Arsenal, many will fancy Chelsea to get a result at Villa Park.

Will: Which team's defenders are you looking at for dead enders into GW31?

Gianni: Fulham play West Ham, Forest and Burnley in the next three and if you’re looking for a short-term punt at the back then Joachim Anderson should be your man. He’s a DEFCON beast and always does well in the bonus points so if you do get a clean sheet, there is a sold chance that your 6-point return becomes an 8-11 pointer.

Sadly, Pep Guardiola has left us all hanging on the Erling Haaland question.

The Manchester City manager said in today's news conference that Haaland was feeling "much better" but would assess his star striker in today's training session before deciding whether to restore him to his matchday squad.

  12. Fernandes & Semenyo - must picks for the rest of the season?published at 16:20 GMT 3 March

    Antoine SemenyoImage source, Getty Images

Is Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes a must-pick for the rest of the season?

He's got four double-digit returns in seven games and his 59 points since returning from injury in week 21 is the most of any player.

Manchester City’s Antoine Semenyo is in the same bracket as Fernandes and a great shout for captain this week, in Erling Haaland’s potential absence. He keeps starting and keeps scoring.

Every City player carries a slight question mark as they enter a period that also involves Newcastle away in the FA Cup, two legs against Real Madrid and the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.

But it's also impossible to second-guess Pep roulette so start Semenyo with confidence - Fernandes is my vice-captain if he doesn't play.

Erling Haaland and Etihad Stadium are a mix made in heaven...for the Norway striker and Manchester City fanbase, at least.

But again, BBC Sport's Thomas Woods has been looking at those alternative captains you mentioned, Phil...

Best captain this week?published at 16:17 GMT 3 March

Phil: Who do you think is the best captain pick this week? I'm thinking Bruno Fernandes or Antoine Semenyo.

Gianni: Both of those are great Phil, but I probably have Semenyo at two, Bruno at three and still think Haaland is the best option. Ekitike is also worth consideration, but I really like the fixture for City, who are so reliable at home. If Manchester United or Liverpool were at home, I would be more tempted to back against Haaland, but I buy in to home advantage, especially with City.

Most likely clean sheet? Henderson or Roefs?published at 16:14 GMT 3 March

    Dean HendersonImage source, Getty Images

Dave: Who's more likely to keep a clean sheet this week? Dean Henderson or Robin Roefs?

Gianni: Leeds feel like a safe bet to score against Sunderland at Elland Road, so I would probably edge towards Dean Henderson, who plays a Spurs team on a terrible run with a poor home record. If you look at the bookies' odds, Palace are 23% likely to keep a clean sheet and Sunderland are 22%, so it’s a close one.

  16. Is Ekitike the ideal replacement for Haaland?published at 16:12 GMT 3 March

    Hugo EkitikeImage source, Getty Images

Since week 22, no striker has had more shots than Hugo Ekitike's 23.

Only Joao Pedro is ahead of him for big chances - 10 to nine - and he has the third-highest xG.

In that time, the Frenchman has had five blanks but it feels like he has left points on the table, and last week's 15-pointer was an example of it all coming right.

Give him another chance away to Wolves.

Gianni is banking on Erling Haaland coming through his injury scare to bag points against Nottingham Forest.

But if you are worried about taking that risk, BBC Sport's Thomas Woods has been assessing an obvious alternative to the big Norwegian...

  18. When should you play your game chips?published at 16:07 GMT 3 March

Talking about those game chips Ally, Gianni gave some great advice on that score earlier.

Here is a summary of when and why you should use your chips:

    • Wildcard – If your team is in disarray then this chip is the one for you, when you can make unlimited substitutes. If you can, consider holding it for Gameweek 32 to help set you up nicely for a potential bench boost in Gameweek 33
    • Bench boost – This chip ensures that all your players count, even those on the subs’ bench. Gameweek 33 could be a great time to use it as teams that make the FA Cup semi-finals, in Gameweek 34, could well have two fixtures this week.
    • Free hit – This chip allows you to make unlimited subs for one week only. In Gameweek 34, the teams that make the FA Cup semis will have no PL fixture, so an ideal time to use this chip.
    • Triple captain - Gameweek 36 could be a double for Manchester City, who have a game against Crystal Palace to reschedule from the Carabao Cup final weekend. So maybe reserve the triple captain for a City player in this week.

    80+ points behind, help!published at 16:03 GMT 3 March

    Gianni Buttice
FPL expert and eight-time top-50k finisher

Ally: I need help. I'm 80+ points behind in my work league and looking for a way back. I have used up most of my chips. Any tips on who I should captain out of Bruno Fernandes or anybody different?

Gianni: A keep calm and carry on approach with so much football still to play could be viable. A few smart calls around the double gameweeks can see an 80-point gap close really quickly. You don’t need to do anything radical just yet. If you do want to go against the grain though. a captain like Hugo Ekitike could be quite a differential in your mini league, where most will be going Erling Haaland or Bruno. Personally, though, I’m captaining Haaland, who I think plays.

    • Bournemouth – Evanilson
    • Burnley – Edwards
    • Leeds – Justin
    • Chelsea – Cucurella
    • Arsenal - Havertz, Odegaard
    • Fulham – Wilson
