Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior was asked about Arne Slot's comments regarding the number of set-piece goals: "I think that is the beauty of football, you can do it in so many different ways. There's no right or wrong way to play football for me. I'm sure when we scored from a corner yesterday, our fans didn't care what the goal looked like. I'm sure Arsenal's fans didn't care what their goals looked like either. The game is about winning.

"What I would say about corners is that there needs to be a review at the end of the season in terms of the way teams are affecting the goalkeepers and are holding on during defensive set plays. I think that's something that gives an unfair advantage to certain teams."

Daniel Farke has just delivered a remarkable 10‑minute (at least!) response when asked about his red card after the final whistle against Manchester City on Saturday.

We’ll bring you what he said (a little bit of it) shortly and other key lines from the Leeds manager from his news conference shortly.

  3. Rosenior to 'adjust team selection' based on disciplinepublished at 14:39 GMT 2 March

Aston Villa v Chelsea (Wed, 19:30 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior on how he is working with his players to improve their discipline: "The first thing is picking the players who are actually showing that improvement. I cannot afford to go through a season picking up a red card every one or two games, it just isn't possible.

"So I need to see improvement and I need to adjust my team selection based on those players that are showing those capabilities."

  4. 'Feelings of disappointment and missed opportunity'published at 14:34 GMT 2 March

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior was asked about the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday: "The two main things are feelings of disappointment and missed opportunity. It's not just from the game yesterday afternoon, it's from the last three games. The performances have been very good, both tactically and technically, but we haven't taken advantage of the moments that matter.

"For me, we should have four more points from the two games before this one and definitely at least one point for our performance last time out, barring those moments."

  5. Rosenior taking 'more responsibility' on set-piecespublished at 14:29 GMT 2 March

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior on his side's lack of luck when it comes to defending corners: "It's a key thing that we have to improve. Every manager has a different idea of the way you attack and defend set-pieces, and I've taken more responsibility in that area over the past week because I know that's something which needs to improve.

"Bernardo Cueva has shown what a fantastic set-piece coach he is by our offensive output being one of the best in the league. But it's not just down to coaching. It is down to focus, concentration and mentality."

Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers hold the joint record for the most red cards in a Premier League season with nine each.

The Black Cats became the first team to pick up nine red cards in a season during the 2009-10 campaign, before QPR matched their feat two years later.

Chelsea have received seven red cards from 28 games in the 2025-26 season, with winger Pedro Neto the latest to see red in a 2-1 defeat by league leaders Arsenal.

Robert Sanchez, Malo Gusto, Trevoh Chalobah, Moises Caicedo, Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella have all been given their marching orders by referees this campaign too.

Most red cards in a single Premier League season:

    • Sunderland (2009-10): 9
    • Queens Park Rangers (2011-12): 9
    • Leicester City (1994-95): 8
    • Blackburn Rovers (1998-99): 8
    • West Ham United (1999-00): 8
    • Newcastle United (2008-09): 8

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior was questioned on Enzo Fernandez's vice-captaincy role, considering he has picked up 12 yellow cards since August 2023: "He is a top leader. It's not even entered my mind.

"There's something that needs to improve there. We're a young team, it's not an excuse but we are one of the youngest in the league and in Europe.

"The beauty of having a young team is sometimes you need to go through experiences to improve, it's a massive learning experience. We have to learn from these setbacks we're having."

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior on whether there is an issue of discipline in his squad: "It needs to improve promptly. My job is to create a culture of accountability, whereby if you make a mistake, you hold your hands up and make sure it doesn't happen again. But you have to hold your hands up to the original mistake though.

"Pedro [Neto] has apologised to the group. We will miss him for the next game. I need to see an improvement in the behaviour now.

"It's not just him though, we've had bookings for needless dissent and fouls. If we're to improve and get to where we want to be, we have to make a conscious step now to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris provides injury updates ahead of Leeds tie: "Nothing new, which is good. We still have one or two minor injuries with quick turnaround between fixtures, we'll make decisions late. Other injuries remain long and recovery is important."

On Leeds and going to Elland Road: "Leeds are doing well, they have a clear identity and the ability to go direct. They are well coached with a great atmosphere at Elland Road."

On Sunderland's midfield: "Granit Xhaka, Noah Sadiki, Habib Diarra and Enzo Le Fee are all connected in such a positive way. They are meant to play together. We know there is a fluidity to their movement that is matched with individual strengths."

Arsenal remain strong favourites to win the Premier League title after yesterday's crucial win - that is at least according to the Opta supercomputer.

Opta gives Mikel Arteta's side a 83.2% probability of becoming champions this season with Manchester City given only a 16.2% chance.

Meanwhile, simulation suggest Wolves' relegation to the Championship is a done deal with, them going down on 99.98% on occasions.

Burnley are also a shoo-in for relegation at 98.05% while West Ham have a 69.38% chance to drop down.

Nottingham Forest currently have a 25% chance of getting relegated followed by Tottenham (5.02%) and Leeds (2.05%).

Premier League teams finishing on 36 or more points in each of the last nine seasons were guaranteed safety from relegation.

In the 20-team Premier League era, starting from the 1995-96 season, the average number of points needed for survival, or the number of points the 18th place team finished plus one, is 35.53 - rounded to 36 points.

No team in the last nine campaigns have earned 36 points and been relegated.

In the 30 Premier League seasons that have had 38 games a season for each club, 36 points would have ensured survival 60% of the time.

This season is expected to be a familiar tale. After 27 rounds of games, 18th place is currently on track to finish on 34 points, meaning 35 points would ensure survival.

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo on whether he kept an eye on fellow relegation strugglers Tottenham and Nottingham Forest at the weekend: "I watch all the games in the Premier League.

"We are focused on ourselves though. We didn't achieve a result in our game and that's what we have to focus on, it's what is really important for us."

On two teams, currently competing in Europe, being involved in relegation battle alongside his team: "It shows how competitive and difficult the Premier League is for all of the teams. It is the best league in the world, where the best players are, so everything is possible in the Premier League."

For years Arsenal supporters were told "good teams find a way to win" when we didn't manage to break down yet another low block for 90 minutes. Well, we did find a way. Top of the league we are, as well.

    Yves, London

As an Arsenal fan it's an interesting one. We spent years playing beautiful football, but getting kicked off the park and not winning much. I'm more than happy to see us winning games and challenging for titles like this, it's a reflection of how teams play against us.

Wolves boss Rob Edwards on Arne Slot's comments on the rise of set-pieces: "We have to be a bit more pragmatic than him. If we could win 10 games now 1-0 with a set-piece, we’d take it!”

On facing Liverpool: "In the Premier League, anyone can give anyone a run for their money on the day and we’re showing that at the moment. But it’s a different game now, we've got to be at our best to be able to threaten these teams.

"They're the champions, an amazing football club and it’s really exciting for us to face them twice but we know the size of the task as well. Everything we had on Friday, we need and more."

  20. When could Wolves be relegated?published at 13:31 GMT 2 March

Wolverhampton Wanderers could be relegated as early as 22 March from the Premier League following a forgettable campaign.

Rob Edwards' side are currently bottom of the table having picked up just 13 points from 29 matches, leaving them 14 points from safety and having played one match more than every other team in the bottom six.

Wolves can only reach a maximum of 40 points this season, and that would require the Molineux men winning each of their final nine matches.

Given Wolves have only won twice in the top-flight this campaign, that would appear highly unlikely.
