Summary

High pressure centred to the east, will give a light to moderate southerly flow. A cold front edging eastwards on Thursday will then introduce a stronger northwesterly flow for a time, before a new high builds from the Atlantic on Friday.

Strong winds warnings are in effect in the following locations:
  • From Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney
  • Rattray Head to Berwick on Tweed
  • Lyme Regis to Lands End including the Isles of Scilly
  • St Davids Head to Great Ormes Head, including St Georges Channel
  • Great Ormes Head to the Mull of Galloway
  • Isle of Man
  • Lough Foyle to Carlingford Lough
  • The Mull of Galloway to Mull of Kintyre including the Firth of Clyde and the North Channel
  • Mull of Kintyre to Ardnamurchan Point
  • The Minch
  • Ardnamurchan Point to Cape Wrath including the Outer Hebrides
  • Shetland Isles
  • For Coastal areas up to 60 nautical miles from Lerwick, Shetland
