South Africa finally turn to spin and Keshav Maharaj.

But is it too little and too late?

Seven runs off his first over, with Tim Siefert punishing a wide and short delivery with a four through cover. He's now just three runs short of a half-century.

New Zealand looking like a team possessed and focussed on winning convincingly. Clearly they are desperate for a World Cup win after the disappointment in the two finals in 2019 (vs England) and 2021 (vs Australia).

I am surprised South Africa have not turned to Keshav Maharaj or other spin just to change the flow of the game and do something different to the batters.

    Absolute carnage!

Finn Allen follows up the six with four consecutive boundaries off Corbin Bosch and New Zealand are almost halfway there - and we're only six overs in.

Drinks will be taken in Kolkata. Everyone needs a break after that onslaught - most definitely South Africa.

It's the second-highest total during a powerplay at this T20 World Cup after India's 86-1 against Namibia.

Corbin Bosch comes into the attack but there's not letting down from New Zealand.

Finn Allen welcomes him with a shot over backward point in the final over of a very productive powerplay for the Black Caps.

New Zealand do have a better track record than South Africa, and I think the pressure is telling. Unbeaten until now, yet unable to handle a key game.

It's shortish from Kagiso Rabada next and it's no mercy from Tim Seifert, who pulls it over mid-wicket for a boundary.

Rabada's over goes for 18 runs and New Zealand are cruising.

South Africa need a wicket here to halt their opponents' momentum.

Savage from Tim Seifert. You can almost call this game barring something extraordinary.

South Africa are purely defensive now.

Good anticipation from Finn Allen reading the pace-on delivery. He understood that Lungi Ngidi wanted to get out the over and that allowed him to use the pace.

New Zealand are playing a New Zealand way - putting pressure on in the right way.

New Zealand well and truly on top here!

Lungi Ngidi is brought into the attack and he goes for only five from his first five.

But Finn Allen then scoops the South Africa bowler over fine leg for a six to make it another good over for the Black Caps.

A big over for New Zealand as 18 comes off Marco Jansen's second.

Tim Siefert is unfazed by the review against him and hits Jansen for a maximum the very next ball before the opener hits another boundary - this time with a brilliant drive.
