Triple killer questioned by police outside MI5

    The inquiry has heard that an intelligence report from the 31 May 2021 incident at Thames House in London was sent to Nottinghamshire Police.

    The report, which was emailed by the Met Police on 1 June 2021, stated that Calocane was spoken to by the police, but was "calm and compliant", before being allowed to leave the area.

    It was recorded by the Met Police that Calocane appeared "calm and collected" when officers attended the MI5 headquarters at Thames House.

    When asked if visits of a similar nature were common, PC Foster said: "It's not infrequent it does actually occur, whether it is outside Thames House or whether it's actually outside other diplomatic or places of interest.

    "It's semi-regular that somebody would wish to pass information on to intel services."

    Calocane told Foster it was his "first time" visiting a venue of this kind.

    When asked if he had been arrested before, Calocane said he had been.

    The inquiry is hearing how that on 31 May 2021, Calocane visited the MI5 headquarters in Westminster, asking to be arrested.

    PC Foster, of the Metropolitan Police, attended with another officer.

    In bodyworn camera footage played to the inquiry, Calocane told Foster he wanted to speak to someone, but would not disclose what he wanted to talk about to officers.

    Foster asked Calocane to keep his hands out of his pockets while speaking to him.

    When asked what his plans were when it was established he could not speak to anyone, Calocane said "go home".

    The inquiry heard Calocane had booked an Uber to take him home.

    Tuesday marks the seventh day of the hearings, taking place over nine weeks at Mary Ward House in London.

    Today we are expecting to hear from a Metropolitan Police officer who responded to calls that Valdo Calocane was trying to contact MI5 its headquarters in London.

    The inquiry will then hear from another Met officer who is part of the team that manages threats posed to public figures and protected sites.

    Finally, one of Calocane's former roommates, who was involved in two incidents with the triple killer in 2021, is expected to give evidence.
