Valiants march on after another night of magicpublished at 22:45 GMT 3 March
FT: Port Vale 1-0 Bristol City AET
Image source, PA MediaIt seems fitting that the final FA Cup tie of the fourth round, delayed by more than a fortnight, left it impossibly late before sparking to life.
It's also ironic that the original tie was called off due to rain and was eventually settled by Waine.
Port Vale, bottom of League One, gritted their teeth, worked incredibly hard and saw-off toothless Championship play-off chasers Bristol City, 38 places above them in the ladder, with a goal eight minutes from the end of extra-time.
To call it a slow-burner would be an understatement, but it caught fire in the end, and boy did Bristol City and Gerhard Struber get burnt.
Instead of a League One trip to Peterborough, Vale now have the prospect of hosting Premier League Sunderland on Sunday lunchtime, on a pitch which will once again be a great leveller.
Thanks for your company tonight, we'll be back on Friday night for the Championship clash between Preston and Oxford United, on a night when the FA Cup fifth round also begins.
Enjoy what's left of your evening!
