St Helens and England prop Alex Walmsley is set to be out for six weeks with a foot injury.

Walmsley played with the injury in the win over Catalans Dragons on Friday, but he now faces a spell on the sidelines.

The 30-year-old does not require surgery, but needs time for rehabilitation.

"Alex will be in a boot for a little bit and will just have to take time," head coach Paul Rowley told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"If he's got a foot injury, there's a lot of weight going through it, so we'll just have to be careful."

St Helens have won two of their opening three Super League games, but Walmsley's absence will include a game at champions Hull KR later this month and the derby with Wigan Warriors on Good Friday, on 3 April.
