Barrow forward Jovan Malcolm has had surgery on the lower leg injury he sustained in Saturday's 1-0 loss to Gillingham.

Play was halted for eight minutes while Malcolm was treated after a tackle by Gills substitute Ethan Coleman before the 23-year-old was carried off.

"We look forward to seeing Jovan return to the training ground soon and we're all with him during his recovery," the club posted on X, external.

Malcolm has played seven games for Barrow since joining on loan from League One Stevenage in January.
